Shan Cafe in Wembley operates as a casual, no-frills spot where locals drop in for a quick bite and a strong cup of tea. Its unassuming presence within a cluster of small shops suggests the kind of place you might pass without much notice — until you stop in and realize it serves a particular slice of South Asian street food culture that’s hard to find elsewhere in the area.

The café’s main draw is its variety of savoury snacks and light meals, including idly sambhar, vadai sambhar, and a range of stuffed rolls like mutton, fish, and chicken with egg. These offerings speak to a distinct South Indian and Goan influence, creating a readily accessible taste of home for those familiar, and an approachable introduction for newcomers. Alongside these, lighter vegetarian options such as veg rolls and aloo paratha cater well to plant-based eaters looking for comfort food that can be grabbed on the go.

Visitors typically arrive during morning hours to enjoy traditional breakfast items paired with masala tea — a local favorite that many appreciate for starting the day or a casual mid-morning break. The café’s atmosphere is straightforward and practical rather than designed for lingering; seating is minimal, and takeaway is the norm. This setup makes it especially convenient for commuters or locals who want a quick, affordable meal without fuss.

The staff here are friendly and familiar to regulars, contributing to a relaxed vibe despite the café’s tight space. Drinks like freshly made avocado shakes or the tangy falooda add a refreshing counterpoint when temperatures rise, making Shan Cafe a spot that adapts well from morning through the early afternoon.

Overall, Shan Cafe suits anyone looking for authentic, no-nonsense South Asian snacks in a compact setting. Its mix of affordable, freshly prepared items and warm hospitality appeals mostly to locals who appreciate quick service with a nod to traditional flavors. Early day visits or lunchtime are the best times to catch the kitchen at full tilt and select from its varied hot and cold selections.

Tried pani puri , couldn't stop from eating another plate. Fresh and absolutely authentic taste. Paani was tangy, medium spicy and could feel the freshness. Puri was very crispy and the best i have eaten. Dabeli was good but will definitely come back for the pani puri again. Bought 3 boxes of pani puri too. and will try more items next time. Didn't expect at all, little hidden gem , though not so hidden as its on the main road Tried food in the little thela kind thats attached to the store in the front. MUST TRY item - pani puri

I discovered this small cafe accidentally and bought the most amazing Goanese fish rolls and tea! The tea tasted heavenly. I then ended up buying their boxed meal (biriyani) and stuffed bread with Goanese coconut chutney. Prices are very reasonable and food is fresh, but, everything is takeaway because it's a small cafe inside a tiny conglomeration of shops.
